Travel Fever - Barcelona

(Photos are not mine credit as follows: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8,)

Barcelona, the capital of Catalonia, is the second largest city in Spain after Madrid with a population of 1,621,537 people.  Barcelona is a bilingual city: Catalan and Spanish are both official languages and widely spoken.

Barcelona is especially famous for its architecture, for example Gaudi's architecture can be seen all around the city as well as the still unfinished church of the Sagrada Família (completion is planned for 2026) another notable work of his is the Park Güell which was built in the years 1900 to 1914.  Another notable architect was Lluís Domènech i Montaner, who designed the Palau de la Música Catalana, the Hospital de Sant Pau and the Casa Lleó Morera.  Barcelona is also noted for it's exotic and diverse cuisine.

I'm visiting a friend from Cardiff in Barcelona next weekend and I am beyond excited.  I've never been to Barcelona, let alone Spain so I have no idea what to expect. Have any of you guys been before? If so could you pass me on some tips of what not to miss (apart from the obvious), or good places to eat?

  1. We're going to Barcelona for our college trip in November.
I'm really excited because it will be my first real look at the world outside of England!
Before this, we've always stayed around the hotel and tourist areas when we've been on holiday.
    Ciara xx

  2. Oh have fun! I'd recommend some of the musts such as picking up fresh food at La Boqueria, museums on Montjüic, and venturing out to the lesser known laberint d'horta, which is so beautiful in person. x

  3. wow such beautiful pictures x
