So on Saturday I attended the South Wales Bloggers meet up in Cardiff.  I only recently got involved with the blogging community on twitter and I'm sad it took me so long.  I got invited to this meet about 3 weeks ago and since then it was a mixture of fear and excitement.  I get mild anxiety about new situations and I have this horrible thing where I need everyone to like me, not always great for social situations.  But despite my nerves I'm so glad I went.

The event was hosted in The Brewhouse, a live music venue that does incredible food and cocktails - highly recommended if you're ever in Cardiff.  The girls from Lush did little presentations showing off one of their great face masks (Catastrophe Cosmetic) and we got to take a sample pot away so you can expect a review of that soon.  The lovely ladies who organised the event also spoiled us massively with our goodie bags, I did not expect that at all. After lunch (aka stuffing my face with a lemon thyme chicken burger - diet what diet?) we headed over to Crabtree & Evelyn for some more demonstrations and another goodie bag (so spoilt).  I always walk past this shop when I'm in town assuming it to be far out of my budget but it's surprisingly not! They have gorgeous products that are beautifully packaged.  In our goodie bags we got a money off voucher so I'll be heading back there this week to pick a couple of things up.

Sadly I had to leave early and skip the fashion show to get on with my massive pile of revision that has generally be left untouched.  But I saw some of the other girl's posts about it and it looked like a lot of fun.  Hopefully next time!

So this was my first ever blogger meet up and it was such a great experience.  It was really something out of my comfort zone but I'm glad I did it.  I can't wait to go to another one.  The girls were all so lovely and friendly it was easy to chat to them.

Thanks again to all the lovely ladies who organised such a great event and for making me feel so welcome and at ease.

Here's to the next one!

I am tongue tied and twisted

Trousers: GAP.  Cardigan: Zara.  Flatforms: Bershka.  Nails: Essie Fiji.  Lips: MAC Daddy's Little Girl

I had a massive panic on Saturday morning regarding what to wear to the South Wales blogger meet up that day.  I had an outfit all planned out but once I put it on I hated it.  Cue frantic rushing around and hating everything in my wardrobe.  I wanted to wear something nice but not too try hard and this is what I ended up with.  I barely wear trousers but these GAP ones pulled me in with their print.  The print is technically navy but I think I can get away wearing these with black things? I was concerned this was a bit too College Prep/Gossip Girl gone boring but this is essentially my kind of style. These are also currently the only size 8 trousers in my wardrobe that I fit in. Thank you GAP and your generous sizing.

On another note: the meet was wonderful! I was so nervous at first, I didn't know anyone there and walking into the venue felt like my first day at school! But the girls were lovely and super friendly, I'll do a separate post on the meet up because there's other photos for that.  We got so spoilt with our goodie bags, so thanks to the wonderful organisers!

Today's post title comes from Rhye's song The Fall which I'm currently obsessed with.  My boyfriend (who's currently out of the country - sadface) appears to know my music taste inside out so he recommended them to me.  They're perfect for summer listening so please check them out!

You know I really got a thing for American guys...

Shorts: New Yorker.  Necklace: Miss Selfridge (sale).  Lips: MAC Viva Glam Nicki.  Nails: Essie Aperitif. Boots: Topshop Alvin (sale)

Last November in a moment of weakness I accompanied a friend to a Nicki Minaj concert in Cardiff.  I enjoy Nicki Minaj on occasion, her music mainly features on my 'Run chubby bitch run' playlist for the gym.  I'd never been to an R'n'B or hip hop gig, I'm a true 2006 child.  Most of the gigs I have ever been to were ones that featured men with big fringes and skinny jeans.  I actually really enjoyed the Minaj gig, I've always had a soft spot for popular music.  The shirt was an impulse buy from one of the guys that sell merch outside the venue. It wasn't until the next morning that I saw what was printed on the back: 'bad bitches like me is hard to come by'.  I am not a 'bad bitch' and the grammar error kills me.  It should be 'bad bitches like me ARE hard to come by' so needless to say I don't wear this out the house without a jacket of some sorts.  This t-shirt makes me feel silly so I thought I'd wear it to lift my grim mood.  Looks like it did the trick.

I've bought these USA shorts back out of hiding for spring and because I've lost enough weight to make them look good again.  Happy face.  These also seem appropriate for tonight when my other half and I go to the midnight screening of Iron Man 3.  Yeah we're a bit geeky...

3 more sleeps until the South Wales blogger meet! Eek.

Will you still love me when I've got nothing but my aching soul?

I've been back in my adopted home town of Cardiff for a week now.  I've felt very uninspired and unmotivated, my last week of university is next week and I'm pretty fed up of it.  I'm not inspired by my degree anymore nor do I enjoy it.  Looking forward to this all to be over and starting a new chapter of my life.

In a bid to get inspired and get my mood up, my housemate and I went to Cardiff Museum to check out the new modern art exhibition.  I couldn't take any pictures sadly, they had some really cool paintings and sculptures.  Most modern art leaves me saying "I don't get it" but it was fun nonetheless.  We also managed to catch the first and essentially only nice spring day, the daffodils are still in bloom, spring is trying its hardest so let's keep our fingers crossed.

I'm going to a South Wales blogger meet up this weekend, I'm so excited and nervous at the same time.  I've not met any bloggers yet so I'm feeling a little anxious but it should be a great day!

I'm also totally obsessed with Lana Del Rey's song for The Great Gatsby (see the video at the bottom of the post), the lady can do no wrong and I'm so excited for the film to come out in May.

More soon, hopefully I'll get out of this funk and stop eating my feelings whilst watching House.
