“Live in the sunshine, swim the sea, drink the wild air.” - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Well it wouldn't be British 'summer time' without a ridiculously chilly trip to the seaside.  My boyfriend suggested this trip to Ogmore a while ago.  I agreed because it looked like it would be warmer.  I was all wrong.  I came prepared with my bikini, suncream and sunglasses. Turns out that I wore my hoodie and long sleeve t-shirt the whole time we were there.

Saying this, it was lovely to be by the sea just lying on the sand and getting through some of my more questionably tacky books on my Kindle (I'm a sucker for historical fiction.  I know I know...).  I'm hoping that at some point in the coming months I might actually be able to just wear a bikini on the beach and not freeze.

More soon.  Keep your fingers crossed for better weather

A Yorkshire Weekend

I am back from an amazing weekend 'Up North'.  I went up to go and see my old school which was celebrating it's 120th birthday.  I haven't been back to my old boarding school since 2009 so it was very strange going back and seeing how different it was.  None of my old teachers recognised me which was pretty funny.  I'm not sure if it's a compliment or not?  I stayed at my best friend's house which is beautiful and we spoilt her dachshund rotten.

It was fantastic seeing my old school friends, we had such a good time.  I haven't laughed so hard in months.  As you can see from these photos (a mixture from my weekend) we did a lot of eating and tea drinking.  We went to the famous tea room Betty's which if you're ever in Yorkshire is an absolute must do, did shopping and went for a night out.  My northern ladies party hard.

Coming back to Wales on Sunday was a bit of a come down, I love Yorkshire with all my heart.  I grew up there so it holds a very special place in my heart.  I would love to move back up there at some point.

Punk Rock Princess

Blazer: H&M.  Faux fur stole: H&M.  Shirt: Urban Outfitters.  Jeans: Topshop.  Boots: Topshop.

Despite a couple of anxiety episodes in the past week, life has been good to me.  The first reason being these Topshop jeans.  Yes they are the Joni ones that everyone and their grandmother is wearing.  I wanted them in black for ages but the Cardiff Topshop doesn't like stocking petite jeans in anything bigger than a size 6 so it took a while to get my size so I could try them on.  They are super comfy but my question is: are these jeans or jeggings? Because if they are jeggings then that raises the whole issue of wearing stuff that covers my bum, people wearing jeggings as jeans is one of my pet hates.  So are these jeggings or very thin jeans? HELP!  Either way I've been wearing them nonstop.

The other reason life has been good to me is that I got to see Andrew McMahon in concert last night with my boyfriend.  Andrew McMahon was in Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin and is now going solo.  Andrew is one of my musical heroes and his music got me through some pretty rough times.  The gig was amazing (flawless setlist) and I got to meet Andrew afterwards.  I was totally star struck and had shaking hands, I might as well have been 14 again.  I'll be smiling for a while now.

In other news I'm heading 'up North' on Thursday.  There's a reunion of sorts at my old school and it gives me the chance to see my best friend whom I've not seen in 2 years (I was on my year abroad, then she was on her year abroad).  Pretty excited about it.  It's good to have things to look forward to.

“We'll always have Paris.”

I keep going back and looking at my photos from the trip to Paris that my other half and I took in March.  They're reminding me of what a great trip we had and that I do love France and the French language.  That motivation is pretty important now seeing as I'm in the final stages of my degree.  My motivation has been flagging, especially for my French degree.  The worst is nearly behind me and over summer I can hopefully go on another city break.

Paris must be beautiful in summer...
